Balancing Wellness Perspective

rock balance momma joy wellnessI think you probably know that Life is all about balancing wellness.

Balance of hot and cold
Balance of soft and hard
Balance of light and dark
Balance of activity and rest
Balance of creative and practical
Balance of work and play
Balance of silence and sound
Balance of social and solitary time
… and more

Perhaps you also know that the trillions of cells in your mind-body are constantly seeking balance, or what is called homeostasis (see quote below). And that those cells generally do a pretty good job of balancing wellness inside of you.

Most of the time, that is.

However, when you face a challenging situation, [Read more…]

Judah and Tamar Trilogy Book Two

I am pleased to say that the first draft of Judah of the Terebinths, Book Two in the Judah and Tamar Trilogy was completed in mid-April (2015), and the first two chapters are now in the hands of one of my and my co-writer’s (Michael Silversher) trusted readers.

For those of you who aspire to be writers, I want to encourage you to keep your dreams alive by taking time each day to write-write-write, then re-write like crazy and edit-edit-edit until each word brings you a spark of joy. Be like a mother hen watching over her brood to make sure not one of her babies is weak or sick. [Read more…]

Your Voice Your Child

New pregnancy book—Your Voice Your Child

As a mother or mother-to-be, guiding your child’s vocal and verbal skills can be a daunting task, but I am excited to announce that I have published a book to make it fun (and easier than you think) to succeed!

Starting in the womb—about 22 weeks into pregnancy—and continuing throughout your child’s development, it is your voice that is the most powerful influence on how your baby-to-be will later speak and sing.

In my new book, Your Voice Your Child, you will discover ways to equip your child for future excellence in her verbal and vocal skills by starting off with simple vocal activities that empower you to shape her innate capacity to learn how to express ideas without fear or self-consciousness, and to communicate with clarity and confidence.

“Everything starts in the home, and it is always in the home where either stellar or less than stellar vocal patterns are directly—or more often indirectly—taught.”

Voice Liberation

Voice Liberation Comes to Idyllwild October 8, 2013

Joy Sikorski here, often known as the Voice Liberator who has helped countless people around the world free their voices. I am pleased to announce that I am opening up a limited number of voice liberation session spaces in Idyllwild so that I can help you too!

Watch the short video below of a very unusual lesson I gave to yoga instructor, the lovely Christianne AsperyValdes right in the Idyllwild playground and in Humber Park. It worked wonders! But it is not something I usually do. What I actually do is find ways that work wonders for you…individually, for there is no one-size-fits-all formula for liberating your voice.

I’ve worked with professional singers and non-professionals alike. I’ve worked with people who have sung before thousands (and in some cases millions) and I have worked with people who are too shy to sing in front of anyone at all. Some of the people I help sing in choral groups or karaoke. Others sing rock or cabaret music. Then there are the operatically trained and the country-western or jazz folks. And children too.

It doesn’t matter how much training you have or have not had. It doesn’t matter what kind of genre you prefer. It only matters that you long to liberate your voice. If you have that desire, we can work wonders together!
